About Roland
Roland Oehme has been on a journey of joy, health, and truth for much of his life. Having grown up as the only son of a well known landscape architect, Wolfgang Oehme, he learned an appreciation for nature, plants, animals, and the beauty of being outdoors in wilderness or a natural style garden. His mom inspired the whole family to first change to a vegetarian diet, and then later to a vegan diet. She also got the family involved in healthy living groups like The Natural Hygiene Society (now The National Health Association), Vegetarian Resource Group, and Earthsave.
Roland has lived on two continents, and traveled to many countries. After high school, Roland successfully completed a two year apprenticeship in landscape design which involved practical and theoretical work in Stuttgart, Germany. Roland spent the next five years living in Athens, Georgia in order to complete a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture at the University of Georgia. While attending university, his interest and passion for green living was sparked when he learned about the destruction of the rainforests and the promise of the miracle plant hemp. Having recently lived in southern California for five years, Roland experienced the epicenter of the rawfood lifestyle firsthand, bicycled as much as possible, and amassed a collection of over one hundred plants, many of them fruits and vegetables, thereby learning how to grow much of his own food. He and his wife, Naoko, currently follow a healthy, mostly rawfood, vegan diet and green lifestyle. He and she are raising their baby as healthy as possible by using the true health principles.
His passion today is to help people learn about and appreciate all of the facets of green living, including green diets, super health, appreciating nature, plants, and wildlife, green buildings and gardens, green transportation, green places to live, and so on. His never wavering goal is to create a green, nature based, nonviolent, compassionate lifestyle for humanity that will allow us to live peacefully and harmoniously on planet earth forever! |
